General Information
The Chapman University Donna Ford Attallah College of Educational Studies seeks applications for a tenured or tenure-track Associate/Full professor and Director of Teacher Education with an emphasis in one or more of the following areas: secondary Social Science and English, Disability Studies, Special Education, Bilingual Education or related areas, starting August 2020.

The Director of Teacher Education oversees three programs: Master of Teaching (MAT), Master of Special Education (MA SpEd), and Master of Curriculum and Instruction (MACI) and serves as Program Coordinator of one of those programs. Ideally, the Director could teach a course primarily in the elementary and secondary credential undergraduate and graduate programs (e.g., Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, Master of Arts in Special Education). Courses within these programs are taken exclusively by graduate students earning degrees and credentials in Elementary Education, Elementary Education with Bilingual Emphasis, Secondary Education, and Special Education (i.e., Multiple Subject, Single Subject, Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe) in preK-12 teaching. There may be additional opportunities to teach education related courses in the Ph.D. program.

Required qualifications:
-Earned Ph.D./Ed.D. in Education or related field
-Established record of research and scholarship commensurate with rank
-Experience in teaching subject matter related to secondary social sciences or English, Ethnic Studies, language development, Special Education, Disability Studies, Bilingual education (Spanish bilingual preferred) or related areas

Desired qualifications:
-Experience leading teams in K-12 or Higher Education
-Evidence of effective and innovative teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level
-Established record of, or evidence of potential for, obtaining external grant funding
-Demonstrated ability to educate for a culturally diverse society
-Experience with development and implementation of educational programs in collaboration with local communities
-Ability to design and implement program and course assessment tools
-Experience using and modeling technology in educational settings
-Experience mentoring and supporting junior and/or adjunct faculty with course design, assessment tools, technology use, community partnerships
-Demonstrated commitment to creating and leading initiatives that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion within teacher education and higher education
Faculty Responsibilities include:

Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching, service, and advising/mentoring.

The successful candidate will administer the Teacher Education Programs, and teach, advise, and mentor students in our graduate Teacher Education programs that prepare K-12 educators.

Director Responsibilities include:

Providing leadership and vision for Teacher Education, managing day-to-day operations, such as: overseeing budgets and supervising staff, collaborating with other Attallah College Program Directors and Coordinators, administrators, and staff members on the development and utilization of procedures and practices that support, develop, and improve academic programs in the College, leading a specific Program Design Team, creating teaching schedules, recruiting and supervising part-time faculty with assistance from other program coordinators in Teacher Education. The Director will have the opportunity to carry on instructional, research, and/or outreach activities, commensurate with her/his/their administrative responsibilities and interests.
