Dr. Jennifer Robinette in the Department of Psychology at Chapman University is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral fellow. The position is located on our Orange Campus. The ideal candidate should be able to start in March, 2020.

The position is funded in part by a NIH/NIA career development award, titled: Neighborhood Adversity and Sensitivity to Stress: A study of gene x environment interactions. Fellows may be funded and supported up to 2 years, pending performance and grant support.

Qualifications
Dr. Robinette invites application from those whose research interests and experience will contribute to the scientific goals of the Context and Aging Research (CARE) lab. Projects in this lab examine adulthood psychosocial, physical, and cognitive health in the neighborhood context.

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline by the time the position starts. The Ph.D. must have been awarded in the last five years.

A Ph.D. in health psychology or related field is preferred, as are those with experience, knowledge, and/ or research interest in social epidemiology, social genomics, aging, and spatial sciences.

Applicants with prior experience using large national data sets, advanced data analysis skills, excellent organizational skills, and strong interpersonal skills are highly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Project aims will be tested via secondary analysis of multiple large national data sets consisting of United States men and women in midlife and older adulthood who have been followed since the early 1990s every 2 or 10 years.

These rich sources of data include health indicators from self-report, in-depth interviews, home visits, and blood, urine, and saliva samples, as well as via linkage to various administrative data sets.

Under Dr. Robinette’s mentorship, the fellow will analyze large national data sets, present findings at professional conferences, and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of psychology, gerontology, and social epidemiology. The fellow will also mentor undergraduate research assistants, engage with other faculty across departments at Chapman University, and write and apply for foundation and federal grants.
