The College of Performing Arts at Chapman University seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre Technology in the Department of Theatre, effective Fall 2020.

Qualifications
Requirements include a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) or equivalent professional experience by August 1, 2020, professional experience in technical theatre and design, as well as a record of outstanding teaching, scholarship and a commitment to undergraduate education.

Candidates should be willing and able to develop innovative courses/programs/research related to their area of scholarship and creative activity. Research and teaching in interdisciplinary areas are encouraged.
Responsibilities
Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly/creative activity, teaching and service.

Teaching will include a variety of technical theatre courses within the candidate’s area of expertise. Examples could include: Introduction to Theatre Technology, Stagecraft, Drafting, Projection Design, Set Design, Lighting Design, Costume Construction and Design, and Design History and Theory.

Design opportunities are available within our production season.
The successful candidate will work with the existing faculty, chair, and dean to develop a new BFA in Technical Theatre.

The department, college, and university value personalized faculty collaboration with undergraduate students. The faculty member will be expected to advise, mentor, and encourage undergraduate students with regard to curriculum, research projects, internship opportunities, and career possibilities. Active involvement in department, college, and university service is expected.
